Jazeera Airways restructures network to ensure profitability
Jazeera Airways (KSE: Jazeera, Bloomberg: Jazeera KK, Reuters: JAZK.KW), the leading regional carrier, announced today that it has restructured its network, as a result of current market conditions and seasonality, which will affect some of the airline’s routes. From 13 December, services from Kuwait to Hurghada in Egypt ceased operation until 2 June 2010.

This will now operate as a seasonal summer route. However, some weekend flights to Hurghada will be operational in early 2010 during the holiday periods. Flights to Sana’a will now operate via Bahrain, as of 3 January 2010. Furthermore, the airline announced that services between Kuwait and Tehran and between Dubai and Bahrain will cease to operate on 3 January 2010. The last service from Kuwait to Mumbai will operate on 3 January with the last return flight on 4 January 2010.

The route from Kuwait to Latakia, originally scheduled for launch on 15 December, has been postponed. “We are continually reviewing our services to ensure ongoing profitability in a tough trading environment, while providing our Guests with quality and choice. Making the changes to our network gives us the opportunity to operate more frequencies to other destinations or to launch new routes where there is a greater demand,” commented Stefan Pichler, CEO of Jazeera Airways.

Each aircraft is fitted with the airline’s signature leather seating, while the Jazeera Business Class cabin offers business travellers a little extra convenience including easy booking, special check-in counters, 40 kilograms baggage allowance, access to airport lounges and exclusive in-flight service and entertainment. The airline flies to destinations in the Middle East, North Africa and Iran.
