The Tamkeen sponsored trainee engineers, who have just completed their initial two-year theoretical training at Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), will be spending another two years in Gulf Air, where they will undergo intensive, hands-on training in various units of its technical and engineering departments on rotation. At an induction ceremony held at Gulf Air Headquarters Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Mr. Samer Majali welcomed the trainees in the presence of BAS Chief Executive Officer Phil Bowell, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mr. Salman Al Mahmeed and senior officials from Tamkeen and Gulf Air. Addressing the trainees Mr. Majali said, “As Bahrain’s national carrier, we are committed to developing Bahraini talent. Bahrain needs fresh, local talents like you and I am glad our national carrier has joined hands with Tamkeen to provide this valuable training opportunity. During your time at Gulf Air you will not only get practical training but you will also learn certain key skills such as teamwork, problem solving and time management, which you need, to become professional engineers. I encourage you to work hard and learn as much as possible during this training period. My background is in engineering and I can assure you that as a profession it can open many doors for you and who knows one of you could be a future CEO of Gulf Air.” This initiative reinforces the national carrier’s commitment to provide career opportunities to Bahrainis in cooperation with Tamkeen including recently launched Bahrain female cabin crew initiative, the recruitment and training of 125 Bahrainis in Gulf Air’s World Wide Call Centre Programme, training company employees within Tamkeen’s Career Progression Programme, as well providing training facilities to the Aeronautics Maintenance Engineering Programme, just to name a few. |
