Sama & Nas launch operations  Sama plans IPO for 2008
(CAPA): Sama Air, a Saudi-based LCC start-up, has launched operations with three times daily Dammam-Jeddah service on 18 March 2007. The carrier will also operate services to Riyadh, Median and Jizan. Meanwhile, Sama plans to add Qurayat to its route network and take delivery of a fourth B737 after its launch of operations. Last month, Sama announced the launch of its services across the Kingdom with a promotional offer of 10,000 free seats. The destinations being offered include Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah, Madinah and Jizan.

Sama confirmed plans to launch a partial IPO in 2008, but no further details were disclosed. The company plans to raise the number of B737s to 35 in the next few years.

Meanwhile, Saudi LCC, nas air, commenced operations on 25 February 2007, launching three times daily Riyadh-Jeddah service with A320 equipment. The carrier plans to launch Riyadh-Medina service in late March 2007 and to Madinah, Jizan and Gurayat in 2Q07.
