Emirates opens Venice office
(CAPA): Emirates is expecting a surge in business with the opening of its new offices in Venice, ahead of the Venice-Dubai route launch on 1 July 2007. The Dubai-based carrier now flies to more than 90 destinations across the globe. Its Dubai-Venice flight will provide the only direct air link between Venice and the Middle East.

Emirates has a 14-strong team in Venice to support operations on the ground, adding to the more than 190 Italians employed throughout the Emirates Group.

The five-times-a-week service supplements Emirates' existing flights into Milan and Rome. The new service will connect the catchment area around Venice, including the Italian cities of Verona, Trieste, Florence and Bologna, as well as the neighbouring country of Slovenia, with Emirates international hub in Dubai.

Emirates will operate an Airbus A330-200 on the route which will offer a weekly capacity of just under 2,000 seats, plus 91 tonnes of cargo, in each direction.

Flights will initially operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, becoming daily on 1 September 2007.
