Emirates negotiates SriLankan Airlines management contract
(CAPA) Emirates stated it had concluded a very positive round of negotiations with the Sri Lankan Government regarding its management contract for SriLankan Airlines, which is due to expire on 31-Mar-08.

SriLankan is Emirate’s only investment in a foreign airline. Tim Clark, President of Emirates, has however ruled out the possibility of raising its 43% shareholding in the Sri Lankan carrier.

Final negotiations are expected to take place in the next two to three months.

Meanwhile, Emirates announced plans to launch six times weekly from Dubai-Ahmedabad services on 28-Oct-07. The services will be operated in in two and three class configurations using A330-200 and B777-200 equipment.

The service is Emirates fourth Southern Indian destination, the others being Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Bangalore – all launched in 2006.
