Kang Pacific Airlines: Another emirate joins the airline fray
(CAPA) After watching the growth of Dubais Emirates Airline, Sharjahs low cost champion Air Arabia, Abu Dhabis Etihad and Ras Al Khaimahs soon to launch RAK Airways, the Emirate of Fujairah has thrown its hat into the ring with the 25-Aug-07 launch of Kang Pacific Airways (KPA), which will initiate operations in Oct-07.

KPA is the brainchild of UK/Indian businessman Paul Kang, who will finance the carrier’s start-up with USD10 million of his own funds. Mr Kang has worked in concert with the Fujairah Government to bring another intercontinental air service to the UAE. Mountainous Fujairah, which boasts 130,000 residents and a tourism plan that aims to double visitor number in the next five years, is the country’s most easterly emirate.

The new carrier aims to operate to secondary airports in the UK, such as Birmingham and East Midlands, as well as the labour routes that sustain much UAE flying, with services anticipated to Amritsar, Cochin, Karachi, Mumbai and Manila. Regional services will also be operated to the Arabian Gulf destinations and to the Middle East.

Initially, the carrier will use a leased DC-10 widebody aircraft, with the intention of adding a second DC-10, a B747 and a B737 for regional operations.
