Oman Air to lease six B787s from ALAFCO
(CAPA) Oman Air and Aviation Lease And Finance Company (ALAFCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding for the lease of six Boeing B787s aircraft for a term of twelve years. Oman Air would be the first airline in the Gulf region to lease the aircraft, which are expected to be delivered to the carrier in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Oman Air is the second Gulf airline and fourth Middle Eastern airline to lease aircraft from ALAFCO.

The new aircraft are a part of Oman Air’s overall fleet development and growth plans. The lightweight, composite aircraft will enable Oman Air to expand its route network and is expected to provide enhanced operating efficiencies and cost savings.

ALAFCO is a Shariah based aircraft leasing company headquartered in Kuwait. It owns and manages twenty seven aircraft that are on lease to fifteen airlines. It is the first aircraft leasing company in the Middle East to purchase the B787, following a comprehensive market study and review of the aircraft. ALAFCO has narrowbody and widebody aircraft from both Boeing and Airbus on order, including B737s, A320s and A350 XWBs.
