Jeppesen to supply digital navigation solutions to Qatar Airways
(CAPA FREE) Jeppesen and Qatar Airways recently finalized an agreement for Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) applications and data for the airline's new Boeing 777 aircraft that will feature the Boeing Class 3 EFB. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery this month. Jeppesen will also provide the airline, including the Royal Amiri Fleet, with its e-Link system so that charts and data can be accessed electronically by ground-based personnel, such as dispatch and operations.

Qatar Airways currently operates a fleet of 58 all-Airbus aircraft to 79 destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Far East, Indian subcontinent and North America. The highlight of this year's expansion has been the launch of flights to New York (Newark) and Washington DC — the airline's first move into the North American market.

During the Dubai Air Show, Qatar Airways ordered 30 Boeing 787s and five Boeing 777s.

Jeppesen will help Qatar Airways implement a successful EFB program that includes terminal charts for EFBs, airport moving map, onboard performance tool, a document viewer and the Jeppesen Data Distribution and Management system that administers software configuration management and the ability to consistently deliver flight-critical data accurately, securely and on time to the EFB.

"Qatar Airways is a perfect example of a growing, innovative airline adopting the latest technology to streamline operations and enhance the situational awareness of the flight crew," said Thomas Wede, senior vice president and general manager, Jeppesen Commercial and Military Aviation. "We are very pleased to add Qatar Airways to the growing list of airlines who are realizing the efficiency our advanced digital navigation solutions offer."

Jeppesen is the first and only provider to have its EFB applications in service across all three classes of EFBs, and Jeppesen is the only company with its EFB applications and support systems currently in service with airlines and military flying units around the world. As a result of working agreements with both Boeing and Airbus, and numerous EFB hardware providers, Jeppesen can deploy its solution across diverse fleets of new and existing aircraft, and across Class 1, 2 or 3 EFB platforms, all while maintaining EFB data and software continuity.
