RAK Airways signs distribution agreement with signs with Galilo
(c) Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation: RAK Airways, the fourth national airline of the UAE, and Galileo, a leading global distribution system (GDS) and part of Travelport, signed a new agreement granting the carrier access to the Galileo GDS.
As a result of the agreement, RAK Airways’ fares and inventory will be made available to users of the Galileo GDS system.

RAK commenced scheduled commercial operations on 29-Nov-07, operating its first service between Ras Al Khaimah and Dhaka.
The carrier since launched operations to Colombo and Beirut, while service to Sofia is expected to commence before the end of the year.

The carrier operates a single B757, but will lease up to six aircraft to cover its short-term requirements. RAK plans to buy ten narrowbodies by 2010. A decision on the aircraft order is expected in the next six months, with the B737 and A320 families under consideration.

Over the next twelve months the carrier is targeting traffic of between 800,000 and 1 million passengers, and may expand its network to up to 20 destinations.
