Gulf Air accomplishes successful fleet registration
(c) Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation: Gulf Air announced it has successfully completed Bahraini registration of all its 30 aircraft in less than three months’ time. A brief ceremony was held to mark the accomplishment in the presence of Gulf Air Acting President and Chief Executive Björn Näf, officials from Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) and SR Technics, the company that takes care of Gulf Air’s maintenance.

"It is a proud moment for all of us at Gulf Air, the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority and the citizens of the Kingdom, as Gulf Air is now a Bahraini company in every sense of the word," says Mr. Björn Näf.

"I would like to thank Mr. Abdul Rahim bin Salem Al Haremi, Director General of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Sultanate of Oman and Captain Abdulrahman AlGaoud, Under Secretary for Civil Aviation, Kingdom of Bahrain and their team of officials, the project team members from SR Technics for their outstanding support and cooperation to make this happen."

After the official announcement of Gulf Air becoming a fully-owned Bahraini company, registration of its aircraft under BCAA began in mid-September 2007. The first aircraft, Flight GF056, under the Bahraini registration A9C-LB, flew to Mumbai, India on its maiden voyage on 14 September.

"It was our objective to complete the changeover process before end of the year and I want to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to Gulf Air employees for their dedication, commitment and teamwork in completing this task as per schedule. This is a great achievement accomplished in the interest of Gulf Air and Bahrain." concludes Mr. Näf.
