Government of Sri Lanka to take management control of SriLankan Airlines
(c) Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation: SriLankan Airlines’ Chairman, DHS Jayawardena, stated the Government of Sri Lanka has decided to take total control of the SriLankan’s management from 01-Apr-08.

"Pursuant to a letter received by the Government of Sri Lanka from Emirates, stating that they will not continue with the Management Agreement of SriLankan Airlines from 1st April 2008, the Government of Sri Lanka has decided that it will take the total control of the National Carrier’s Management from this date and will continue to manage the National Carrier for the best interest of the Public and the country at large.

The government will remain the Major Share Holder of the Airline and will not divest or sell its shares to any other Partner / Carrier."
