Emirates to operate daily between Dubai and Houston
Fresh off the heels of its Dec-07 launch of services between Dubai and Houston, Emirates will increase route from three times weekly service to a daily frequency beginning 1 February, 2008. In its first two months of operations on the service the airline has reported high load factors.

“As predicted, the Emirates non-stop service between Dubai and Houston has been popular among business and leisure travellers alike,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, Emirates Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations Worldwide.

The new service has also proved to be popular for shippers, particularly those from the oil and gas industry which account for over 70% of the service’s cargo. The operation is currently handling about 16 tonnes of cargo out of Houston and about 10 tonnes into the American gateway.

“Emirates SkyCargo is pleased with the success of our Houston service and our confidence in the operation is demonstrated through the introduction of daily flights starting next month. For shippers, this has meant a more efficient and cost-effective option,” said Peter Sedgley, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Cargo Commercial Operations.

Outstanding inflight services have distinguished the Emirates experience which stands out among passengers looking for the highest levels of comfort, particularly on long haul flights.

Houston is Emirate's second U.S. gateway, offering business and leisure travellers the fastest link between the UAE and Texas with a 17 hour flight from Dubai to Houston and a return of approximately 15 hours. The route follows on the success of Emirates’ first destination in the United States, New York, which has been operating since 2004 and has since grown to become a three-flights-a-day service.
