In late Jan-08, three submarine cables were severed, causing slowdowns in internet connectivity speeds across the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain Pakistan and India all affected. The problems are expected to continue for up to 15 days.
