Kuwait International Airport (KIA) has posted significant traffic increases across all sectors in 2007, according to latest figures released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Mr Salah Sultan Majed, Director of the Department of Air Transport at the DGCA said the traffic increases are a result of the DGCA's adoption of an "Open Skies" policy and providing all the facilities and services needed to stimulate air traffic in Kuwait. The move has had a positive impact on airline operations, with 51 carriers currently operating scheduled flights, in addition to ad hoc charter airlines.
