Emirates Airline is bridging the Middle East and Far East - two regions that continue to record healthy growth rates - with its announcement of double-daily services from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur and introduction of three additional weekly flights from Dubai to Jakarta, effective 01-May-09.

Emirates has announced (30-Mar-09) increased services to three of its key regional gateways including; Dammam, Beirut and Tehran. Starting from the 01-Mau, Emirates will introduce two additional weekly flights from Dubai to Dammam, three additional weekly flights to Beirut and an extra two weekly flights to Tehran, further reinforcing the airline’s extensive operations across the Middle East.

Dubai has launched (04-Mar-09) a massive global campaign, to promote its tourism facilities internationally. Initiated by Emirates airline and Group in partnership with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Dubai hoteliers and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) the campaign is estimated to be costing around AED50 million, including flights, accommodation, meals and tours.

AeroMobile, provider of in-flight mobile phone services, clocked up its 100,000th user on 15-Feb-09 confirming an increase in calls this year. The milestone was passed when a Singaporean passenger made a call from 36,000 feet during Emirates flight EK404 from Dubai to Singapore.

Emirates Airline took delivery of an Airbus A380 that has been financed by HSBC. The aircraft is now in service, flying between Dubai and London. The carrier financed the purchase of the aircraft through HSBC Middle East Leasing Partnership, a new venture from HSBC Bank Middle East Limited which provides competitive and flexible finance to Gulf-based companies for assets such as aircraft, ships, turbines, and other moveable assets.

Emirates Airline announced (28-Jan-09) that it would begin operating its A380 aircraft to Seoul's Incheon International Airport in Nov-09. The new service is timed to coincide with Visit Korea Year in 2010, where the national government and the city of Seoul are joining forces with the private sector to promote South Korea as a destination for international tourism.
