Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker has reinforced the strategic importance of the airline's ongoing expansion in Scandinavia following its latest route launch to Oslo. The October 5 start-up of scheduled flights to Norway's capital city complements the airline's existing services to Stockholm and Copenhagen with the Gulf carrier now flying to three key points in Northern Europe.

Qatar Airways' cargo division has announced it will begin scheduled dedicated freighter services to three North American destinations - Atlanta, Houston and Toronto. The new North American services will be operated with Qatar Airways' Boeing 777 freighters and will fly from the airline's hub in Doha via Luxembourg.

Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air today reaffirmed its longstanding relationship with the State of Kuwait, unveiling a series of commercial initiatives tailored to the Kuwaiti market. The airline announced the launch of an additional daily flight between Bahrain and Kuwait and a 50% discount for Falcon Gold travellers on flights to select Europe, Middle East and GCC destinations, in addition to a tailored family fare package.

Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport today announced that Emirates will launch nonstop daily service between DFW and Dubai (DXB) International Airport starting on February 2, 2012. Emirates, the largest air carrier in the Middle East, will serve the route with Boeing 777-200LR aircraft equipped with 266 seats. The announcement marks DFW’s first nonstop flight to the Middle East, a key strategic goal for the Airport.

Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has been selected by Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air to provide high density video reproducer units (VRU) to upgrade the airline's Airbus A330 fleet in-flight entertainment system. Installation of the VRUs is expected to begin in the fourth quarter, 2011 and continue through 2012. The VRUs will be produced by Goodrich's Sensors and Integrated Systems team in Monterrey Park, Calif.

The month of June saw the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) carry out its annual audit of Flydubai's Crew Training programme to ensure it complies with the GCAA's Civil Aviation Regulations. During the assessment, the Government auditors found Flydubai to be fully compliant and gave positive feedback on the EFOSTM system.
