EGYPT : EgyptAir and TAP Portugal, a member of the Star Alliance, have signed a codeshare agreement covering EgyptAir's new twice-weekly Cairo-Lisbon service, commencing 02-Jun-07. EgyptAir will serve this route with A320 equipment every Wednesday and Saturday.

Embraer delivered the first of six Embraer 170 regional jets to EgyptAir Express on 14-May-07. Egyptair Express is the new subsidiary of flag carrier, EgyptAir. This aircraft is the first E-Jet to operate in that country.

(CAPA): Sama Air, a Saudi-based LCC start-up, has launched operations with three times daily Dammam-Jeddah service on 18 March 2007. The carrier will also operate services to Riyadh, Median and Jizan. Meanwhile, Sama plans to add Qurayat to its route network and take delivery of a fourth B737 after its launch of operations.

QATAR : (CAPA): Qatar Airways reportedly plans to order 80 Airbus A350XWB aircraft, with a contract, valued at USD16 billion at list prices, potentially to be signed by mid-07. Earlier, CEO, Akbar Al Baker, confirmed plans to double the carriers fleet to approximately 120 aircraft by 2017.
