Etihad Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines signed a codeshare agreement, covering services operated by Etihad between Abu Dhabi and Dammam. The agreement, effective 15-Feb-08, will also see Etihad increase its capacity from Abu Dhabi to Damman route from nine to thirteen frequencies per week.
According to Geert Boven, Etihad Airways’ Executive VP Sales and Services, the agreement “not only increases the number of weekly flights between Dammam and Abu Dhabi but also provides Saudi travellers with much more convenient connections onto our popular destinations.'
“By entering into codeshare agreements like this, we continue to attract more air travellers onto our network where they can sample our award-winning products and services.”
Etihad currently operates 28 services a week from its hub at Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia, including 13 frequencies to Dammam, seven to Jeddah and eight to Riyadh.
The airline launched its services to Dammam – its first Saudi Arabian destination – on 21-Dec-08.
Etihad currently has six other codeshare agreements, covering SN Brussels Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Philippine Airlines and Middle East Airlines and the UK-based, bmi.
